Read Aloud is a accessibility feature that uses text-to-speech (TTS) technology to convert text to audio. Read-aloud feature benefits learners with low vision, and is often used by those with specific learning disabilities such as dyslexia.

Mostly the text being read out is also highlighted on the screen using a different colour. The learner can choose to start and stop the read aloud, navigate to next piece of text and even change voice and speed of reading. The Read Aloud feature is often built in applications like eBook apps on desktop computers or smartphones. Read Aloud is also available as a plug-in for browsers or as an application that can read out text from any screen.
